I was in a hurry Saturday night to get over and meet a few friends to enjoy a few whiskies which instead turned out to be a glass of red wine and our own homemade beer. (Be ready for the notes on the homemade beer, coming soon)! A quick snack first, a glass of that fantastic cider and a Highland Park 1998 (recently reviewed), for warm up since the icy walk over would prove quite cold. Being in a hurry I missed a drop of the whisky and the next afternoon when I went to give it a whiff I found the drop I left, (look closely at the foto to find it). The smoke is now more visible then when the glass was completely emptied. And I’m getting honey from this one, a very typical distillery characteristic from Highland Park. The malt and dry hay is faint, not nearly as much as when the glass is completely empty, dry.
